Raghunath Das (left), together with other villagers have taken on the responsibility to guard the gate leading to their village of Dhinkia in Orissa. They have erected temporary fences around the boundary of the village to prevent a survey team entering their area. All the residents of this village would be displaced if plans for the new steel works are allowed to proceed. South Korean steel giant Posco continues to face stiff public resistance in Orissa's Jagatsinghpur district where the company is setting up India's biggest direct foreign investment project of a 12 million tonne steel plant, at the cost of USD 12 Billion. Villagers have formed an agitating group, "Posco Pratirdh Sangram Samiti" to oppose the construction of the Posco development, which will displace thousands of people and make agricultural land untenable.
