Marie (60) used to donate to shelters. Now she lives in one: ''I went to university for a few years then dropped out and completed an arts program. I have a creative background. Sewing and costume stuff. After a series of deaths in my family, I fell into a deep depression. I'm a highly functional person, but I just didn't seek the help I needed. Now I live at a shelter in northwest Toronto that's also a safe injection site. It's horrendous there. The air is filthy, and the food sucks.''
