A resident of Bar Beach, Victoria Island, whose shanty dwelling was destroyed, sits in one of the dredging pipes that will be used to pump 95 million cubic metres of sand into the area 9000 metres square in order to create a new city, Eko Atlantic, on land reclaimed from the ocean. This development will contain residential, financial and commercial districts and up to 250,000 people will live there with a further 150,000 commuters arriving each day.
