Children playing in water around a statue of a mermaid, which is the symbol of the city, in Old Town square. The old city was almost completely destroyed by German bombing during the Second World War (WWII), and has since been completely rebuilt. The care with which this was done was given international recognition when it was included in UNESCO's World Heritage List in 1980. The castle however was only finished in 1984.
