Russians with photos of Russian soldiers and relatives who fought, and in many cases died, in the Soviet army in World War II during a rally to commemorate the sacrifices of the Soviet Red Army on the 77th anniversary of the Soviet victory against Nazi Germany, Liberation Day 8 May or in former Soviet countries 9 May. They marched to the Tiergarten park Soviet war memorial. The banner, which has had the Soviet hammer and sickle icon covered, reads 'Immortal Regiment'.
