Helen Ikri and her children sit in their home lit by an oil lamp, their only source of light. Helen is a widow and makes a living by selling tapioca cake. She dries the tapioca next to a gas flare and uses the money she earns to pay her childrens school fees. After Russia, Nigeria has nore gas flares than anywhere else in the world. It is considered a safe way to burn off the excess gas that is a byproduct of the oil production process. In reality, as well as being a waste of resources, the pollution produced is toxic and a serious health hazzard to people living in the Niger Delta.....
