Reginaldo Greczyszn in his soy plantation in Canarana. Greczyszn now runs the risk of being unable to sell his crop as a change in law from the federal government has deemed his farm 'illegal' due to over deforestation on the land. At one time the federal government encouraged farmers to deforest large areas in order to make them more productive, but as pressure from environmentalists heightened, the government issued more and more unworkable restrictions; raising the percentage of farm land that must be kept as forest from 50 to 80 percent.
