Martin was born with weak muscles and for many years was unable to stand or walk. For a year he has been receiving physiotherapy at the CNAR (Centre National d'Appareillage et de Reeducation) rehabilitation centre in Gitega. He is now walking with the aid of a walker and soon will learn to walk with sticks. In around six months his physiotherapist hopes he will be able to walk on his own. Because Martin's parents couldn't pay for the treatment, all medical expenses were financed by the solidarity fund of Handicap International.
