Refugees from Sudan and IDPs from South Sudan hunt for mudfish in a lake formed by flood water near Yida, a town situated only a few kilometres from the Sudanese border that has become home to thousands of Sudanese refugees fleeing fighting in the border states as well as to 17,000 IDPs fleeing fighting between government troops and anti-government rebels within South Sudan. With few resources many refugee children and internally displaced South Sudanese children have turned to fishing, both as a source of food and also as a source of income. Income that some of the children use pay for school items such as exercise books and fees.
