A man checks his mobile phone during a party organised on the rooftop of a building in the Central Business District which has recently been refurbished and turned into an art gallery but a promoter. During the Apartheid years, the Central Business District went from being a busy commercial centre where only white people were allowed to live to becoming largely deserted after large numbers of poorer people took over abandoned buildings. There are moves now to regenerate the area though much of the city's commerce is done in other parts of town.
