A detail from the Falletta Building, an apartment block built in the rationalist style influenced by Italian avant-garde architecture. Built in 1937/38 by architects Giuseppe Cane, Carlo Marchi, Aldo Burzagli and A. Fulgini. Asmara is a showcase of 1930s Italian Art Deco architecture. Initially brought to the region by colonial-era Italians, the style continued to flourish into the 1960s as local architects furthered the distinctive designs.
