Wemane Iteka, a Waorani (Huaroni) man, takes his blow pipe on the Maxus Road bus to a hunting spot along the road. He's the only one in the Guiyero area who still makes blow pipes. It takes him a few weeks to make one and he sells them for about 200 dollars. The Maxus Road was built in the early 1990s through the jungle to allow Maxus Energy (now bought out by Repsol) access to oil deposits. Repsol also provides the free shuttle bus service for communities living along its route.
