Observers at a polling station in the seaside village of Solnechnogorskye in Southern Crimea oversee people voting in a referendum that will either grant autonomy to Crimea or will have it join the Russian Federation.<br />
The 16 March referendum resulted in 95% of voters choosing to join Russia, according to local officials. It was condemned as illegal according to Ukrainian and international law by western governments but Russia's president Putin said he would respect the wish of people in Crimea.
