Mourners at the funeral of the Maguire children. On 10 August 1976 British soldiers opened fire on a car driven by Provisional Irish Republican Army (PIRA) volunteer Danny Lennon who was smuggling a weapon through the city along with a colleague. Lennon died at a wheel and the car ploughed into the Maguire family killing three children. The protest that arose at these killings led to a community peace movement.
