A group of children plays in the estuary of the Playa de Oro community. Since the closure of the national schools in March 2020 the children spend their time playing games, doing community activities, and tackling their homework by WhatsApp.
The water in the estuary is pure because the community does not allow large scale mining. However, contamination from nearby territories is affecting their ecosystem too.
