©Kael Alford/Panos Pictures..IRAQ Baghdad   10/4/2003..In a symbolic deposement which was televised around the world, a statue of Saddam Hussein in Firedaws Square was toppled by a handful of Iraqis with the help of US forces. One day on, the head of the now-famous statue lies at the side of a road, where it was dumped after being dragged behind a car of celebrating Iraqis..US and British troops invaded Iraq on 20th March with the aim of overthrowing the regime of Saddam Hussein. By the 9th April American troops were in central Baghdad and the regime had collapsed ending nearly 25 years of Ba'athist rule.
