17 year old Birkenesh (right) greets an acquaintance whilst walking to visit her grandfather in a village near Addis Ababa. Birkenesh was going to be forced to marry a man that she didn't know, but when he turned out to be HIV+ after she insisted he be tested, she refused to marry him. Birkenesh and her grandfather managed to call off the wedding. After the cancellation a great number of young women in her neighbourhood also decided to have their future husbands tested before they get married.
