Welsh street names in Gaiman..The Welsh community in Patagonia are descended from an original band of 153 Welshmen who came to South America in the nineteenth century on a tea-clipper called the Mimosa. The oldest generation still speak Welsh at home and the Welsh chapel still attracts the faithful on Sundays. Eisteddfods (the Welsh festival of arts) are held three times a year where recitals of Latin American poetry combine with Welsh knitting competitions and performances by the four Welsh choirs.
