Smoke billows from the RWE coal-powered generator near the Groningen sea-port, beside wind turbines and electricity grid. The coal generator is the cleanest one in the Netherlands but nonetheless produces toxic smoke and contributes to climate change. Eemshaven is the energy port of the Netherlands, producing around 30% of the country's electricity. At the beginning it was fossil-based, but big steps towards sustainable energy are being taken.
