Arwad Abu Shaheen (centre), a twenty-five-year-old bride from the Druze (Druse) village of Bukata, talks with relatives on her wedding day as she prepares to leave her family home and travel across the Israeli-Syrian border to marry her Syrian fiance, thirty-year-old Muhanad Hareb. The Druze community of the Golan Heights, an area occupied by Israel in the Six-Day war, maintain Syrian relations and many of the Druze residents remain loyal to the Syrian regime.
