The isolated nature of many villages in the cyclone-affected area makes relief efforts very difficult, and very little aid had reached the area. Many people died in this area, nearly all from drowning in the tidal surge, which came to a height of 4 metres in places. Cyclone Nargis struck Burma on 02/05/2008.
