A shop has a sign in it's window reading: 'Due to the current disturbances, upon police advice we have been abliged to close early. We apologise to all our customers.' The sign was put up the day after rioting and looting took place in the London borough of Ealing. London saw the beginnings of riots on Saturday evening, after a peaceful protest in response to the shooting by police of Mark Duggan during an attempted arrest, escalated into violence. By the third night of violence, rioting had spread to many areas of the capital and to other cities around the country.
