Alassane Diaou, the eldest brother of Senegalese migrant Alioune Diaw, is pictured at home in the Hann Pecheur neighbourhood amongst photographs of his family. Alioune, a former fisherman, is one of many young sub-Saharans to risk his life by sailing from his homeland to the Canary Islands in a traditional cayucos. Thousands of African migrants have made this hazardous journey across the Atlantic in their search for a better future. Alioune now works on the Spanish mainland picking peaches for six euros an hour.
