Children play in the Comoro River, Dili's largest river which runs through the city into the ocean. Many of the poorest inhabitants of the city live along the river, it is a popular place for to bathe and wash. Many people believed that a river so close to the city would not be inhabited by crocodiles, but researchers from Charles Darwin University spotted a few of the reptiles in waterways throughout the city.
