A modern steel and glass highrise office block dwarfs the Bauhaus style building built, by architect Pinhas Hutt in 1933, at 48 Rothschild Boulevard. Tel Aviv is known as the White City in reference to its collection of 4,000 Bauhaus style buildings, the largest number in any city in the world. In 2003 the Bauhaus neighbourhoods of Tel Aviv were placed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. .
