The staircase in the Bauhaus style Mirenburg House at 65 Hovevei Zion Street. It was built in 1935 by architect Pinchas Hitt. Tel Aviv is known as the White City in reference to its collection of 4,000 Bauhaus style buildings, the largest number in any city in the world. In 2003 the Bauhaus neighbourhoods of Tel Aviv were placed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
