A fisherman checks a basket at Bamanga on the Lualaba River. Bamanga is the second cataract on Boyoma Falls (known locally as Wagenia Falls). Below the seven cataracts the Lualaba River becomes the Congo. For generations members of the Wagenia tribe have built and maintained these structures in the same manner described by Henry Morton Stanley, after whom the falls were also once named, during his navigation of the Congo in 1874-77.
